FS Splicer Splice Sequence
1. PRODUCTION RUN
THE CONTROL SYSTEM CONSTANTLY MONITORS THE RUNNING ROLL DIAMETER WHILE ADJUSTING THE BRAKES TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT WEB TENSION AND A STABLE FESTOON HALF FULL OF PAPER. THE LOWERED FESTOON POSITION ALLOWS GENTLE E-STOPS WITHOUT WEB BREAKS OR SIDE WEAVING. |
2. FILL FESTOON
AN ALARM SIGNAL ALERTS THE OPERATOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES PRIOR TO SPLICING, TO BE CERTAIN THE NEW ROLL HAS BEEN PREPARED. AT APROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE PRIOR TO SPLICING, THE PULL ACCELERATOR ENGAGES TO FILL THE FESTOON WITH PAPER. |
3. BRAKE ROLL/START SPLICE
WHEN THE RUNNING ROLL REACHES THE SPLICE DIAMETER SELECTED BY THE OPERATOR, THE BRAKE FORCE ON THE RUNNING ROLL INCREASES UNTIL THE ROLL STOPS. THE FESTOON COLLAPSES TO SUPPLY PAPER TO THE PRESS. |
4. SPLICE FINISHED
WHEN THE RUNNING ROLL IS AT ZERO SPEED, AN AIR CYLINDER CLOSES THE NIP ROLLERS AND SEALS THE SPLICE. A KNIFE SEVERS THE EXPIRED WEB AND THE NIP IS OPENED. |
5. ACCELERATE NEW ROLL
IMMEADIATELY AFTER THE NIPS OPEN, THE PULL ACCELERATOR BEGINS TO GENTLY PULL THE NEW ROLL UP TO PRESS SPEED. |
6. RESUME RUN CONDITION
WHEN THE FESTOON FILLS TO THE HALF FULL POSITION, THE ACCELERATOR IS TURNED OFF AND THE SPLICE SEQUENCE RETURNS TO THE BEGINNING OF THE CYCLE. AT THIS TIME THE OPERATOR IS FREE TO REMOVE THE EXPIRED ROLL AND LOAD AND PREPARE THE NEXT ROLL. |
